Polarity As a Practice

The International Certifying Organization that certifies Polarity Practitioners is the American Polarity Therapy Association (APTA) that has "Standards for Practice" and a "Code of Ethics".  This is the ONLY certifying organization in Polarity Therapy.  Polarity Practitioners that are registered with APTA will have an Associate Polarity Practitioner (APP) or Registered Polarity Practitioner (RPP) Certification.

According to APTA, Polarity Therapy is defined as follows:

Polarity Therapy is a natural health care system based on the universal principles of energy relationships:  attraction, repulsion [going away from] and neutrality.  The interrelation of these principles forms the basis for every aspect of life, including our experience of health, wellness and disease.  The Polarity concept arose in Eastern philosophies of ancient times and is confirmed by modern Western scientific discoveries.  With this understanding, Polarity Therapy explores the interdependence of body, mind, and spirit, the importance of relationships and the value of creating a way of life in harmony with nature.  As part of the larger field of Energy Medicine, Polarity Therapy complements existing systems with an integrated, holistic model.  Polarity Therapy is a transformational influence for change in health care and in wellness education.

Polarity Therapy is recognized by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a Complementary and Alternative (C.A.M.) Practice

Currently, Polarity Therapy is practiced in 40 States, the District of Columbia, and 22 other countries.  North Carolina has 43 Polarity Practitioners and the number is growing steadily.

Polarity Therapy was developed by Dr. Randolph Stone, DC, DO, ND during his 60 year medical career and it is based upon Ayurvedic Principles.

Currently, most Polarity Practitioners are in Private Practice; however, we are now seeing Polarity Practitioners teaching in Medical Schools, hospitals, and joining with other healthcare professionals such as Chiropractors and Naturopaths to offer a wider range of options to clients.
